The standard/quality of my students is very high. Especially in the age group of 13-15. They all have been with me for many years and every single one is strong in different way.
When you are very good, there is a problem.
The fear of failure. Everyone wants to be perfect in front of others. So when there is a concert or competition everyone is searching for the PERFECT song.
Week after week there will be rejecting from the previous choice, indecisiveness and frustration.
I told the kids, there is no perfect song. In fact, there is no perfect life, perfect job, perfect man or perfect age, perfect circumstances or perfect opportunity.
You pick one song that you reasonably like and believe you can do well. Use your technique, use your skill, love it with all your heart and do the best you can. You develop silent confidence to it then you nail it.
Suddenly that becomes your perfect song because everyone likes the way you do it and you think it's perfect.
There is no perfect song. Only you can make anything almost perfect.
