The world is moving fast. Technology helps kids to learn things fast and efficiently. All my recording devices like scarlett studio and Rode rodecaster pro are spectacular for voice training/podcasting/recording.

There is hormonal increases in adolescent years and the effect is in the change of vocal fold length for both genders.
There is also a significant increase in vocal fold thickness for boys. Therefore it leads to a lowering of both speaking and singing pitches. You can hear it from these two recordings that Nathan and Louisa sang in 2016 and 2018 (We will keep document this every year). Training throughout the voice change period will stabilise the teenagers development vocally, technically and emotionally. You can hear their voice get lower but their musicality, interpretation and emotion get more skilful and mature.
This sat we will have 14 year old Nathan on Episode 6 “darling what did you say” podcast. This is the last one for 2018. Then we will have the first new year podcast on 5/Jan/2019.
Have an awesome Christmas and happy new year to you all.
I am at the beach in Thailand and my sister texted me this photo! That’s Jade busking in Crows nest (my sister is the dentist just upstairs where you are Jade) all the dentists there can hear you while they work, saying you sing really well. Good girl well done.

"We can be so dumb as a 15 -year-old....everyone is changing ...there can be so much stress as 15-year-old...." said Giulia.
Giulia started her own youtube channel when she was 9. Listen to her interesting insight into youtube, Instagram, snap chat and why it can be so stressful as a 15-year-old girl in this modern social media world.
It’s kinda cool to know that 2017, 2018 and 2019 school captains of Sacred Heart school are all mine. And the coolest thing is that two of them are from the same family . Good on the O’Connors!
The best thing about India is that she has one goal, takes in to what I said, works hard and practice it again and again. (You can see at the end of this video how amazingly excited Ava and I get when we saw your text)!
Doing an awesome speech and get elected as 2019 school captain isjust a start. Now it’s your mission to really be everyone’s voice at Sacred heart.

Congratulations to Hannah getting the major role of Christine for Scots College’s 2019 production of “The Phantom of the Opera”.
Scott college made a very wise choice casting the right voice and right look of Christine for the show. What a fierce competition among singers from 6 schools to get this role.
Have fun darling. #teensingers #musictheatresingers #phantomoftheoperaschristinecasting #mosmanmusic #singinglessonssydney #proudteachermoment
I have never imagined that the responses from my teens is a loud and fast100% yes when I ask if they want to come to the show and talk about their life and issues.
My podcast recording timetable is all the way up to March. One of the kid told me that's because adults don't listen and you do, Susie. We want to be heard.
I suggested topics to them but most of them come out with the most interesting topics themselves that even I want to know. A boy wants to talk about teen parties and the girls. A girl talks about getting part time job at 14. Some talk about teen bullying. Social media , changing schools, teen depression, private school, selective school, drinking ..etc you name it.
Why am I doing it? I am very good at podcasting editing and social media. This might be a lot of work for others but I know exactly how to do it and I do them fast. These kids know me very well and they feel comfortable to talk while just sitting there chatting with me for one hour (we can't do it in the lesson so everyone tries hard to pop in with anytime I ask them to come). No script, nothing they just talk and I listen. I edit our conversation to 15 mins after. I love seeing them so relax and happy while they talk . I have lots of students and even the ex students will contact me about it. I know teens in Taiwan and they say big yes when I ask if they would like to be in the show when I go back next month. The kids I ask are fluent in English and it will be very interesting for Aussie kids to hear different life and perspective too.
So far many episodes have already been recorded and even though I know all these kids for years I always find out things I never knew about each one of them after our conversation.
In our lesson we don't have time to talk about these. One of the parent commented on my instagram that "I think it's because the kids want to talk to you!" I feel very privilege that they do and I wish adults will have more understand to these kids and other kids will have realisation of what others are doing and feeling.
I have a business that goes well with a solid waiting list, I don't worry about money. And I have bloody long school holidays. Doing this gives me great sense of purpose that I am very passionated about.
The teens are longing to be heard and I will make everyone hear them.
2018 is nearly done. We have really good results with almost everything the students and I set our minds to. Concerts, competitions, auditions and now the full set of amazing exam results. It’s Such a brilliant year for us.
2019 is coming and I am thinking about who are the students to keep and who are the new students to take on next year. It’s a very fortunate situation to be and my intention is never to brag or anything. I do totally believe what Michael Port’s “Red velvet rope policy” - work with clients that you love that you will love every minute of it and that you will do your best work.
Mart Chruch also mentioned the same thing in his “ the Thought leaders practice”, he said asking three questions then you will if this client /student is there to keep. 1. Can we get excited by his/her vision?
2 Do we want to hang out with them weekly? 3. Can I make a significant strategic contribution ?
Choosing the right clients/students you then have
“clean energy to do your best”
“You feel inspired”
“You will connect them with deeper level”
“You will feel successful and content “
“ you know your work matters”
I choose my students/parents accordingly. You don’t need to be the most talented singers, all I need is appreciation, support, the willingness to work and then you are staying.
And I will make you amazing while having lots of fun on the way.
Singing exam day! From Grade 1 to grade 8 we have done it all today. This year I called 10 accompanists and not a single one can do it. So I had to edit the backing tracks like a mad woman and every kid tried hard to adjust to the changes. Everyone looked very stylish and it was more like a photo shoot day than exams. You will get your results in 3 weeks time. All our 2018 competitions, auditions, concerts and exams are all done. From next week you can learn to do recording, podcasting or just whatever your heart desire. Susie will be in a super good mood from today. #allworkdonebystudents #anzcasingingexams #singingperformanceexam #singinglessonssydney #singinglessonsmosman #hardwork #examfun #singingexams #mosmanmusic #mosmanliving #proudteachermoments #carlingfordmusiccentre
I had a Chinese student came to see me two months ago. She was a champion of some big singing competition in China and just came to Australia around that time. Parents are very well educated but they live almost one hour drive from me. They couldn’t speak English so they ask a friend to contact me .
At first I really didn’t want to take her. I have the perception that Chinese style is different from mine. I teach very western style music theatre , the winner of Chinese singing competition is not my cup of tea (how wrong was I ) However I love to meet her and see how good she is.
When I met this little 9 year old girl I was very impressed with her quality of tone and despite not being able to speak much English , she is a delightful girl . Her parents are so respectful and humble and you know they will do anything for you to take their kid .
I told them that she really needs to speak English fast.
Two months later she came back with almost fluent English. She has English tuition for two hours daily. When I was teaching her music theatre work she can speak and act in every style I teach her to do.
She is going to go very far and I will make her as far as she go because the combination of determination, good teaching and talent is unbeatable.
Two months. She can speak English within 2 months.
What can we achieve in two months? The potential is unlimited .
