The numbers of teens who are willing to talk on our podcast are quite overwhelming. By the time I leave for school holiday next week we already have 12 episodes ready to go.
Every single one is so well spoken and their lives, insights, value and even frustrations are all so fascinating. Let us give them the voice to make us better friends, teachers and parents.
Welcome to download our weekly show on iTunes, Spotify or all the major podcast apps in Australia or check out our website www.darlingwhatdidyousay.com
These kids don’t speak to get famous. They come and speak because they want to tell us something. #teenspodcasting #kidspodcasting #podcastshow #teenissues #spotifypodcast #itunespodcast #mosmanmusic #singinglessonsmosman #singinglessonssydney #mosmanliving
I have never seen the pool overflown like this...
Seems just a few days ago we had this dust storm.
Took me a long time to clean those dust on the windows. And today I woke up with this massive rainfall and thunderstorm.
Last month I was listening to this podcast about global warming and how the world is going to end in just 20+ years because of natural disaster. When I see weather like this it really triggers my anxiety thinking the world is going to an end. I kept telling myself it's not helping to think that way but regardless the recycles we do and how everyone is more aware of the global warming there seems very little we can change.
This is a blogpost without solution which is quite rare. I am a person who always has a goal, a plan and a solution.
Just a rant. I am sitting comfortably in front of the computer to write this post. I don't buy shampoo with bottles, I do my recycles and I don't use plastic bags but still slowly seeing the environment slowly get destroyed by mankind.
Have you ever wonder what is your purpose in this world? I used to wonder about that all the time and feel anxious constantly .
因為那個時候I haven’t found a clear mission in life and not sure why I am here . Therefore I told myself to relax but still can never get rid of this anxiety and uncertainty .
就是覺得無聊還有覺得一年一年過很可怕。After coming back from Dubai I have totally shifted my mindset and found my purpose.
常常聽到人家說如果你想要做的事情是心流的時候你就會做得非常好完全也不管時間也不管賺多少錢。但是有趣的是reward will come following when that’s the last thing you care . And you feel very satisfied .
還是一樣教學生但是整個感覺不一樣成果也不一樣完全不找別人出去吃飯也沒關係because design the course for them as well as doing this podcast can make me even giving up sleeping . I can just do the work continuously without wanting to rest or going out.
所有的學生向心力更強了現在waiting list 更長也更是原本就是出類拔萃的小孩。Doing the teens podcast brings me the feel of making a difference . 人家常常說當你想要回饋社會的時候就是一切都很順利想要走下一步的時候。
別人笑說這是老人的症頭or you have too much time 我也不會有任何感覺 because judgement and criticism will longer effect me . It’s a real sense of purposeful life and fulfillment.
I am not a lifestyle guru I can’t tell you what to do . But I love to share how this works.
If not, it’s part of the process. You are one step closer to your purpose.
Everything you work hard to do will never be a waste .
I have never imagined that the responses from my teens is a loud and fast100% yes when I ask if they want to come to the show and talk about their life and issues.
My podcast recording timetable is all the way up to March. One of the kid told me that's because adults don't listen and you do, Susie. We want to be heard.
I suggested topics to them but most of them come out with the most interesting topics themselves that even I want to know. A boy wants to talk about teen parties and the girls. A girl talks about getting part time job at 14. Some talk about teen bullying. Social media , changing schools, teen depression, private school, selective school, drinking ..etc you name it.
Why am I doing it? I am very good at podcasting editing and social media. This might be a lot of work for others but I know exactly how to do it and I do them fast. These kids know me very well and they feel comfortable to talk while just sitting there chatting with me for one hour (we can't do it in the lesson so everyone tries hard to pop in with anytime I ask them to come). No script, nothing they just talk and I listen. I edit our conversation to 15 mins after. I love seeing them so relax and happy while they talk . I have lots of students and even the ex students will contact me about it. I know teens in Taiwan and they say big yes when I ask if they would like to be in the show when I go back next month. The kids I ask are fluent in English and it will be very interesting for Aussie kids to hear different life and perspective too.
So far many episodes have already been recorded and even though I know all these kids for years I always find out things I never knew about each one of them after our conversation.
In our lesson we don't have time to talk about these. One of the parent commented on my instagram that "I think it's because the kids want to talk to you!" I feel very privilege that they do and I wish adults will have more understand to these kids and other kids will have realisation of what others are doing and feeling.
I have a business that goes well with a solid waiting list, I don't worry about money. And I have bloody long school holidays. Doing this gives me great sense of purpose that I am very passionated about.
The teens are longing to be heard and I will make everyone hear them.
It’s not easy to be teenagers these days. I have always been doing podcast in other languages and one day suddenly I thought why don’t I provide a platform for teens to talk.
You don’t have to say your real name but all you said have to be true. I have asked 8 teens for the first 8 episodes and the response rate is 100 %.
The topics of our conversations are absolutely phenomenal.
The podcast “Darling what did you say?” will be on iTunes, Spotify and Podbean from mid Dec. I will also bring the series to be on air at radio northern beaches.
This is not for profit, and certainly nothing to do with our singing or my studio. Kids if you are talking, we are all here listening.
(Thank you Joseph McDade for your wonderful music)

2018 is nearly done. We have really good results with almost everything the students and I set our minds to. Concerts, competitions, auditions and now the full set of amazing exam results. It’s Such a brilliant year for us.
2019 is coming and I am thinking about who are the students to keep and who are the new students to take on next year. It’s a very fortunate situation to be and my intention is never to brag or anything. I do totally believe what Michael Port’s “Red velvet rope policy” - work with clients that you love that you will love every minute of it and that you will do your best work.
Mart Chruch also mentioned the same thing in his “ the Thought leaders practice”, he said asking three questions then you will if this client /student is there to keep. 1. Can we get excited by his/her vision?
2 Do we want to hang out with them weekly? 3. Can I make a significant strategic contribution ?
Choosing the right clients/students you then have
“clean energy to do your best”
“You feel inspired”
“You will connect them with deeper level”
“You will feel successful and content “
“ you know your work matters”
I choose my students/parents accordingly. You don’t need to be the most talented singers, all I need is appreciation, support, the willingness to work and then you are staying.
And I will make you amazing while having lots of fun on the way.
